High-school modifications will also be discussed. There will be two sessions for 2 hours. The four hours will only provide officials with an overview of the essential material. This training will supplement your individual review of the rule book. It is an expectation that each member has read/re-read the FIBA rule book prior to attending or the exam, at a minimum. The benefit of these two meetings is to collectively review the material and to discuss certain points of emphasis together. This is NOT detailed training. If you don't read and understand the rule book, it will difficult to pass the annual 50 question true or false national exam. All the rule books and material can be found at our website at www.kboa.ca you can access, download and print out at anytime for free. Links to BCBOA and CABO websites are also available. Thanks Webmaster Matt! #2 Rookie and Jr Officials (Tuesday Oct 25 from 7 to 9pm - TCC)Rookie and junior training will start the week before the regular sessions. Based on the feedback we had received from you, new/junior officials will get 2 hours for orientation and time on the court. This session is open to any new, 2nd to 4th year official, or any person interested in officiating but not yet committed. #3 - Exam (SKSS Tues Nov 15 from 7 to 9)Our goal is to have 100% participation. We are planning to hold the exam at South Kamloops Secondary School. It will be held at the computer room. We are working with Stu W to reserve the room for that evening. We write the exam in small groups so answers can be discussed. If you can't write the exam on that date, you can take it online. BCBOA usually makes it available the first week of November. You only have to log-in as member. It will be automatically loaded to your profile. Please go to BCBOA and double-check if you can still log-on. Update your info, if applicable. Rookies MUST apply and register. If they don't, they can't write the exam. #4We have committed to our clients to provide qualified and professional officials. While attending this training and writing the exam is not technically mandatory, it will impact the level and frequency of the games Ed assigns to our officials.#5Lastly, I committed at the AGM to assist you meet your goals and to create individual learning plans for those who want it.I hope these sessions will be beneficial and everyone can make them all. All I ask is that you come with a positive attitude with the approach to making yourself a better official and being a role model for others. |
